On June 26th 15 leaders of New Market UMC met in person to discuss summer worship and fall ministries. As of July 1, the Governor of Maryland has eliminated all restrictions on in person gathering. With this in mind the leadership team with the blessing of the Home Safe Team have made the following decisions.
9:30 Worship service will remain in the parking lot for the summer until the weather is incompatible.
Remove cones from the parking lot to separate the cars one parking space.
If there is a threat of rain the 9:30 service will move into the sanctuary instead of setting up in the parking lot. This will not be a communicated call, if you come to the parking lot service and it is not set up, attendees can choose to come inside the sanctuary or return home and join the service on zoom.
Zoom will continue for those unable to attend in-person and for recording purposes.
9:30 and 11:00 Worship Services
Communion will continue as “bring your own” or receive prepackaged and taken in your car or pew for the rest of summer. Home Safe Team will re-evaluate this process in the fall.
Sign-ups for both services will no longer be required.
11:00 Worship Service
Bibles and hymnals will be returned to the pews
Bulletins will be available in tandem with keeping the power point
system. A professional video system and installation will be pursued by the Trustees.
Congregants will continue to be encouraged to sanitize coming in and going out.
The choir will resume in the fall or at their discretion.
The Schoolhouse will welcome back those groups who are comfortable meeting there.
Schoolhouse rental usage will be for members only for the time being.
VBS will continue to be held in the rear sanctuary yard and socially distanced.
There were many discussions on Sunday School, Nursery, Trunk or treat, a 200-anniversary celebration that will discussed in an online meeting late in August. This will enable us to view current numbers and make appropriate decisions regarding these ministries.
